SNOWDOGS CREATE HISTORY
40 years of snowdogs cricket has never seen 4 senior teams in the finals - until now. The first XI have been fantastic all year, winning the first 10 games and finishing 2nd on the ladder in their first season in Senior A. The 2nd XI were undefeated up until Christmas, and also finished 2nd. The Third XI had to wait until the last day of the regular season to seal their finals fate. While the 4th XI were assured of a finals spot going into the final round. Not only did the 4 seniors sides make the finals, but the 5 Juniors sides did too - you'd have to get the record books out to see if any other club has ever had 9 teams playing finals

ROUND 11 WASH UP
The first XI had to bat all day to secure top spot, but were unable to hold off a strong Williamstown side - losing outright. With Jordan Mills making 45 not out. The 2nd XI were chasing 239, and passed them with ease. Nick Serrano making 100, and Mick Thom 73. The third XI needed an outright result to make the finals - and needed a further 110 run for first innings points. They were able to get to the target of 166 for the loss of 1 wicket, and then bowled Strathmore out for 88 and chased down the target to secure a finals berth. Tim Raffle made 81* and 41 while Craig Osbourne made 60*. The 4th XI were chasing 190 at Yarraville, and made the runs with little trouble at all. Veterans John Jordan 108* and Phil Conlan 63* lead the way.
ROUND 11 DAY 1
Round 11 started terribly for the first XI where they were bowled out for 73 at home by Williamstown. Bernards fought back strongly to bowl williamstown out for 158, and are 2/27 in the 2nd innings. The 2nds were across at Essendon Grammar and bowled them out for 239 and are 0/23 at stumps with Liam Jilla taking 4 wickets. It took little trouble for the first XI, passing brightong at 2 down. With Craig Osborne and Gary McIntyre both making 50's.
The 2nd XI were at home against a struggling Keilor. Like the firsts they bowled first, and were able to restrict keilor to 146. As with the first XI they were able to chase it down with little problem. James Davey was superb making a quick half century opening the batting.
The Thirds fell agonisingly short against Spottswood. After being 9/104 chasing 161 were then dismissed for 159.
The 4th XI played at home on sunday Vs the undefeated Spottswood. Where they made 139 batting first. which wasnt enough as their much more experienced opposition passed the score with ease.

The 2nd XI were undefeated at the break, but are yet to register a win in '09, losing some tight games. The 3rd XI have been up and down, but appear to be getting the job done at the business end of the season, and are just outside the top four. A special thanks to Jamie Watson from 'Trivia Knights' who conducted a fun set of questions and the professionally run night. A huge thanks to all those players and supporters who attended the night especially those who got their own tables and it was great to see a large number of external members of the Cricket club attend the night and we hope they enjoyed the night and we can see them back at the Home of Cricket in the future. MOAMA PRACTICE MATCH WRAP
Snowdogs squad of 12 players took on a Moama Cricket Club team in a recent practice match on turf at Moama. The pitch was as flat as a pancake and the outfield lighting quick so it was a good pre-season test for the bowlers as anything loose or 'in the slot' was punished. Moama made 4 / 144 off 35 overs with a couple of their batsmen really looking good at home on a familiar wicket. Wickets were shared with Luke Davis, Andrew Drowley, Rex Bennett and Anthony Jordan all taking 1 each. In reply St Bernards 4 / 149 off 33 overs with a few batsmen retiring. Anthony Garvey (34ret), Nick Serrano (24ret) and Mick Thom (20ret) all got among the runs with a few other minor contributions. A good winning start for debutant captain Mick Thom in preparation for his leadership role as 2nd XI captain this season.
PRACTICE MATCH AT MOAMA
We have confirmed a practice match on turf v Moama CC at Moama for Sunday 21 September. Further details and availabilities will be confirmed closer to the date.

SNOWDOGS INTO SENIOR A FOR 2008-09
St Bernard's Old Collegians Cricket Club has voted to accept an invitation from the VTCA to be promoted to Senior A Division for the 2008 / 2009 cricket season.
The VTCA have confirmed that our acceptance means that our First XI will play in Senior A this coming season.
At the Committee meeting held last week, there were lengthy and in-depth discussions on the proposal, and what it may mean for our club. After much consideration of the pros & cons of being promoted to Senior A, the Committee voted to accept the VTCA's invitation.
This is an exciting development for the club and will see us tackle a higher grade of cricket within the VTCA structure. Having been strong at North A level for a number of years, the club is well placed to tackle the challenge.
However, there is plenty of hard work to be done as the season approaches to ensure the club is well equipped for the task. The Committee is enthusiastic about the challenge, and will be striving in a number of areas to have the club ready for the assault on Senior A
